Deeply Jewish, not ceremonial. I know, there is a role for Jewish ceremonies. In my life it's been other things, but there are probably many different ways to feel Jewish. I have a strong attachment to Israel, even stronger since the political winds have turned against her. I was born in Europe, and it is freaky to see Europe returning to bad old habits, but now under different labels. I never expected to see that, but now I do, any day that I bother to read the European press on the web. Not good. But it makes me want to be in touch with others --- Jewish or not --- who are aware of the same things, and feel pretty much the same way about them.
