I am a conversion Jew, which means that I am not a Jew yet. I am reading the Tanakh, as well as many other books. I don't know if I have Jewish ancestry, but I'm pretty certain I do. I wanted to chat in a Jewish setting, because I don't have Jewish friends yet, given where I've lived.

My favorite writer is Franz Kafka. My favorite composer is Gustav Mahler. My favorite scientist is Einstein. I really never connected the two. My Great Grandmother was German and she came over from Hamburg in the 1880's. Her surname is 'Barder.' I looked it up on goole and it is in the jewish directory of names, meaning bert. Of course, it is a Gentile name also. I could go on and on, but here's a start, anyway.
